Adirondack Death Care Community announces support groups

UPDATE: The Adirondack Death Care Community has cancelled the below events for the month of March.

The Adirondack Death Care Community is offering some upcoming events:

What: In Person Community Grief Support Group

When: Every Second Wednesday, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (next sessions: Feb. 14, March 13 CANCELLED)

Where: Saranac Lake (NY) Library Main Floor

Description: Facilitator Ruth Pino is a bereaved parent who believes that coming together to share stories and remember loved ones brings a softening and strengthening to the grieving journey. For those experiencing the grief of losing a close loved one, an informal circle to share, feel, remember and learn from one another.

What: Virtual Death Cafe

When: Every Third Monday, 6:30-7:30 (Feb. 19, March 18)

Where: via Google Meet

Description: Death Cafes are offered worldwide, creating a gathering space to talk about grief, death and loss. Facilitated by Colleen Corrigan

What: Advance Care Planning Workshop

When: 2-4 p.m. Jan. 24

Where: Will Rogers (Saranac Lake NY) in the Great Room, 78 Will Rogers Dr, Saranac Lake, NY

Description: At this workshop hosts will provide guidance and materials to support participants in the completion of Advance Directives, mainly focused on the Living Will and Health Care Proxy wishes and documentation. Facilitated by Dr. Jay Federman and Colleen Corrigan

What: Let’s Talk About It

When: 6-7:30pm, every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month (Feb. 12, 26, March 11, 25 CANCELLED)

Where: Hot House, 50 Bay Blvd, Saranac Lake, NY

Description: ‘Let’s Talk About It’ gatherings remind attendees that they are not alone in the challenges and joys they face and that people can continuously come together to seek support, solace and connection within their community. This open agenda provides space for participants to share and express those experiences and emotions in whatever way resonates. Hosts invite song, poetry, dance, drawing, collaging, painting, etc. to be brought and shared. The register will be open for plant purchases. Tea and snacks provided.
