The Wild Center Celebrates New York Maple Weekends

maple weekends at The Wild Center

Tupper Lake, NY – The Wild Center is happy to announce its participation in New York Maple Weekends, a beloved regional tradition celebrating the art of maple sugaring. Taking place on Mar. 16-17 and 23-24, this annual event invites locals and visitors to immerse themselves in the practice of maple syrup production amidst the backdrop of the Adirondacks.

The highlight of the celebration will be the Pancake Brunch on Sat., Mar. 16 at 10 a.m., offering visitors a feast of fluffy pancakes curated by talented pancake artists and adorned with fresh, locally sourced maple syrup. Watch as artists pour, flip, and create intricate designs that turn simple pancake batter into edible masterpieces. The Great Hall takeover includes choose-your-own pancakes, maple trivia giveaways, and pancake art competitions. Artist-designed pancakes are included with admission (1 per person as time and supplies last). The Pancake Brunch will take place inside The Wild Center’s cafe and will be available to ticketed visitors for an additional charge of $13.25, with a lighter option available for $8.50.

Guided tours of the on-site sugar shack will offer ticketed visitors a glimpse into the process of collecting sap from maple trees, followed by an exploration of the techniques involved in transforming sap into maple syrup.

In addition to the maple-themed festivities, The Wild Center is excited to extend an invitation to local community members to join its innovative Community Maple Project, one of the first initiatives of its kind in the state. Residents living within a 5-mile radius of the museum are encouraged to participate by tapping maple trees in their own yards, with assistance and equipment provided by The Wild Center. Once collected, the sap will be returned to the Center for processing into maple syrup, with participating community members receiving 70% of the syrup produced from their contributed sap. Those interested in joining the Community Maple Project may email maple@wildcenter.org for further information.

The Wild Center warmly invites everyone to join in the festivities and experience the sweetness of maple season. For more information about New York Maple Weekends at The Wild Center, please visit www.wildcenter.org/visit.
