Discussion time: Jobs

discussion graphic

We’re in the initial planning stages for a multi-part series on jobs/employment that will run online and in print in Adirondack Explorer magazine. We’d like to hear from you on a few things: How far/how many miles do you drive for work each day in the Adirondack region? What types of jobs would you like to see more of closer to you, or in the Adirondacks in general?

I drive from Wilmington to Plattsburgh so about 75 miles round trip. Been doing it for three years after working seasonal or restaurant jobs in the Lake Placid area. Worth the drive… High hourly wage ($25+), yearly raises, zero premium heath insurance, pension, career job. The great Lake Placid employers cry they have no employees, well hiring at $15-18 with ZERO benefits is not a livable wage or incentives people to work for you.
