The Lake Placid Community Day Organizing Committee has announced that the 6th annual Lake Placid Community Day is this Sunday, June 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the North Elba Horse Show Grounds. All those who live, work, or volunteer in the community are encouraged to attend. The free celebration features free food and beverages and live music by locally-based band Big Boss Sausage. Representatives from the Lake Placid Olympic and Paralympic Training Center will be serving up food at the event. Community Day also features a host of activities for kids including face painting, balloon animals, and a caricaturist. The theme for this year’s kids’ activities is Superheroes.

Lake Placid Community Day celebrates the community. It is a day to recognize all who contribute to the community’s success whether it’s through work, volunteering, or simply as a resident. Representatives from more than 30 community organizations will be on hand to share information about their work within the community. Equally important, it is a day to have fun and enjoy time together.

Community Day also acknowledges volunteers and the volunteer spirit that is the heart and soul of the village of Lake Placid and the town of North Elba. As part of this celebration, the committee will be honoring two individuals as Distinguished Volunteer of the Year; JT Wint, youth, and Debbie Erenstone, adult.

The Community Day Celebration is a joint initiative of the Lake Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism.

The Lake Placid/North Elba Development Commission facilitates the implementation of the Lake Placid/North Elba Comprehensive Plan, which was developed in 2014. The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism is the destination marketing and management organization for Hamilton and Essex counties, along with the communities of Lake Placid, Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, all located within the Adirondacks in New York state.
