Independence Day events planned around the Adirondacks

The Fourth of July is just around the corner and several Adirondack towns have released their schedule of events which include a wide array of activities such as parades, fireworks displays, carnivals, live music, craft shows, kid’s games and attractions, and much more. See below for a list of Independence Day celebrations occurring around the Adirondack Park to help you plan your Fourth of July festivities.

Essex: The Town of Essex will host its annual 4th of July celebration, starting with a parade at 11 a.m. The mile-long parade route begins at the church beside the intersection of Route 22 and Blockhouse Road in Essex, NY. It ends south on Route 22 at School Street, just past the town hall or downtown at 1 p.m. Other festivities include live music, a dunking booth, a bounce house, and more. More information here. 

Hague: On the evening of Wednesday, July 3, the Town of Hague will put on a fireworks display over Lake George beginning at 9:15 p.m. Click here for more information. 

Indian Lake: Saturday, July 6

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.- Farmers Market at Indian Lake Central School

4 p.m. – ILVFD Chicken BBQ 4 pm until sold out

6:30 p.m. – Music by Mitch Frasier – Adjacent to the old IGA

7 p.m. – Parade

Inlet: Thursday, July 4:

9:30 a.m. – Military Service Flag Raising & Space Force Flag Pole Commemoration at Legion Square

10:30 a.m. – Flag Retirement Ceremony & Family Games at Fern Park

7:30 p.m. – Jamie Notarthomas & Fireworks at Arrowhead Lakefront

9:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. – Showtime at Daikers

Lake Placid: Thursday, July 4:  The Lake Placid Horse Show

5 p.m: Lake Placid’s Fourth of July gala parade, starting at the post office, goes down Main Street, ending at Saranac Avenue (High Peaks Resort).

Live music in Mid’s Park:

1 to 4 p.m. Bluegrass Music with “Nubble”

7 p.m.- Lake Placid Sinfonetta-Admission is free to this lakeside concert sponsored by Champlain National Bank, which will feature an hour of classical pops performed by the Lake Placid Sinfonietta. In the event of rain or temperatures below 65, the concert will be moved to the sanctuary of St. Agnes Church on Saranac Ave. in Lake Placid. Rain site concerts will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Fireworks show over Mirror Lake, which begins at 9:30 p.m., is choreographed to music.

Long Lake: Thursday, July 4: 10 a.m.: Kids’ Games on the Long Lake Ball Field. Penelope the Clown will be in the Gazebo on the Long Lake Town beach entertaining kids with face-painting and balloon animal creations.

1 p.m.: Strawberry Shortcake sold by the Long Lake Lions Club

3 p.m.:  Long Lake Fire Department Cookout on the Beach.

6:30 p.m.: The annual 4th of July Celebration will begin at the Town Beach, sponsored by the Town of Long Lake. Live music will be performed at the Town Beach

Old Forge: Thursday, July 4: Forge Festival of Arts & Crafts – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Adirondack Bank parking lot. Come see skilled vendors and enjoy an extensive assortment of food and hand-crafted items. Admission fee is $3 per person or $10 for a family (whatever is cheaper). Proceeds will benefit View, the arts center in Old Forge. Free parking is available near by.

Owls Head: Thursday, July 4: A Good Ole 4th of July celebration will take place at the Owls Head Mountain View Community Center beginning at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event will include an array of activities such as live music, arts and crafts, food trucks, kids’ games, a dunk tank and water slide, and much more. Saranac Lake: Thursday, July 4: Fireworks over Lake Flower- Fireworks show to begin at 9 p.m. at the Lake Flower Boat Launch on River Street.

Schroon Lake: The annual Fourth of July Celebration is slated for Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4. Festivities will include a parade, live music, an Adirondack Artists & Crafters Special Market, bounce houses, a water slide, climbing wall, fire jugglers, a fireworks display, and much more. Speculator: The annual Fourth of July Celebration is set for Saturday, July 6. The parade begins at 7 p.m. on Route 30, from the 4 corners down to the Speculator Ball Field. A carnival put on by CampStore to occur following the parade, with games and food. Enjoy live music and the 4th of July Parade Committee will have bounce houses for the kids.

The fireworks, sponsored by the Village of Speculator, will go off from the public beach at dusk.

Ticonderoga: Best 4th is four days of fun and celebration, from July 1 – 4 which will culminate with the Montcalm Mile, parade, and a glorious fireworks display. Located in Bicentennial Park, there will be live music, a variety of games, rides, and food vendors. Click here for a schedule of events.

Fort Ticonderoga to present Independence Day Weekend 1777 on July 4-7:  Celebrate freedom by exploring the year 1777 when America was consumed in the labor of liberty. Participate in the fight for freedom when the Northern Department of the Continental Army fought to keep the great fortress of Ticonderoga from falling into British control. Take the experience onto the water aboard the recreated 1920s tour boat Carillon. Dig into centuries of military history during guided tours in the historic gardens. Thrill at the power of artillery during cannon demonstrations and march to the beat of the Fifes & Drums as they perform patriotic music. More information here.

Tupper Lake: Fourth of July Celebration at Tupper Lake Waterfront Park-

Live music at the Sunset Stage in Flanders Park

4:30 p.m. – On 3

7 p.m. – Night School 

Empire League Baseball

6 p.m. – The Tupper Lake Riverpigs face off against the North County Thunderbirds.

Fireworks begin at dusk
