Adirondack Landowners Meeting In Old Forge
The Adirondack Landowners Association (ALA) will host its annual Winter Membership Meeting on December 5th and 6th at the Adirondack League Club in Old Forge.
This year’s meeting will feature a special presentation of the ALA Stewardship Award to NYS Senator Betty Little. Friday night activities will include a social reception, dinner, additional tributes and a live and silent auction. On Saturday morning a member meeting will feature a presentation by NYS DEC Senior Wildlife Biologist Paul Jensen on the department’s Pine Marten program.
The ALA was founded to “encourage continued stewardship and sound resource management of the land; to promote public awareness of the valuable role played by private landowners in the Park; to advocate laws, regulations and governmental policies that promote and facilitate good stewardship by private landowners and recognize and preserve their rights in the land.” » Continue Reading.
Cuomo Nominates Downstate Attorney To APA Board
Governor Andrew Cuomo has nominated attorney Karen Feldman of Hudson to a seat on the board of the Adirondack Park Agency to replace longtime commissioner Cecil Wray.
Like Wray, Feldman is a Democrat. She has served as an adviser to a number of Democratic candidates and politicians, including U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. She graduated from Yale University in 1978 and earned a law degree from the University of Miami in 1983.
Feldman is the live-in partner of Thomas Williams, the president of the Adirondack Landowners Association.
Boat Owners Targeted for Invasives Education
The Adirondack Landowners Association (ALA) has announced the beginning of a three-part education program targeting boat and trailer owners to reduce the spread of aquatic invasive species.
According to a statement issued to the press, the ALA has succeeded getting the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to include an educational insert about preventing the spread of invasive species in all boat and trailer registration renewals by mail. » Continue Reading.
