Natural Homes: Nests, Burrows, Caves and Trees Art Sought

view call for artView, a multi-media arts center in Old Forge, has announced they are seeking artists working in all mediums for the 2018 Natural Homes: Nests, Burrows, Caves & Trees exhibition. Artists are encouraged to creatively interpret the theme of natural homes and will have the chance to receive over $1,000 in awards.

This year’s juror is Jean Stephens, a Rochester, New York native. Jean Stephens received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Art Education from Rochester Institute of Technology. Stephen’s paintings have been selected for national juried exhibitions and are included in private and corporate collections. » Continue Reading.

Youth Visions Art Exhibit Winners Announced

YV18 Award Winner The winners of the 8th Annual Youth Visions Juried High School Art Exhibit have been announced. The exhibit features the works of 57 young artists from 5 school districts, and is currently on display in the North Country ARTS Gallery, at The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The exhibit runs through March 3rd.

The jurors for this year’s show were local artists Paul Chapman and Jacquiline Touba, PhD., who is also the North Country ARTS board president. Out of the 57 pieces showcased, 5 were selected to receive awards. The recipients received a fifty dollar monetary award and an honorary NCA membership. » Continue Reading.

3rd Annual ViewFest Music, Art, and Food Festival Planned

Dave Bennett plays the keyboard behind his backView will host its third annual ViewFest Music, Art, and Food Festival, previously known as Adirondack Music Festival, September 22, 2017 through September 24, 2017 in Old Forge.

ViewFest combines food, art, workshops, craft vendors, demonstrations, and musical performances. The craft fair runs Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 10 am to 3 pm. Local restaurants, food, and artistic demonstrators will be on site Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.  » Continue Reading.

A Collaborative Art And Science Exhibit At Paul Smith’s

Paul Smith's College LogoThe Paul Smith’s College VIC’s Heron Marsh Gallery will host an opening reception at 10 am Saturday, December 10th, for the art and poetry exhibit, “A Deeper Sense.” The public is welcome, and light refreshments will be served.

New Paul Smith’s VIC Art Gallery Opening Saturday

heron marsh galleryThe Paul Smith’s College VIC recently unveiled a new exhibit space for the display of works of art by regional and national artists. The new Heron Marsh Gallery will feature four different nature-themed shows each year.

Currently, the Heron Marsh Gallery is featuring “Topo-Shift 3: Woods Way” by Winn Rea, an artist who has exhibited internationally from The Netherlands to South Korea and nationally from A.I.R. Gallery in New York City to The Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, Mich.
