LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – When the coronavirus pandemic overtook the nation last year, many events were either canceled, delayed or displaced. Lake Placid’s I Love BBQ and Music Festival was one of those. The yearly fund-raiser for the Shipman Youth Center, organized by USA Luge, was removed from its traditional location on the Olympic Speed Skating Oval to the North Elba Show Grounds on the edge of town. The date changed from July 4 to Labor Day, and instead of featuring the best barbecue fare in the East, it went with a drive-in motion picture theme to keep families safe.
