The Town of Bolton and the Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) have announced their intention to purchase a 62 acre parcel of land in the town known as Bradley’s Lookout. The Town will purchase the property from the LGLC upon completion of their acquisition expected to occur late this summer. The property will be encumbered by a conservation easement held by the LGLC.
The Hawkins family has owned the 62+/- acre property known as “Bradley’s Lookout” in Bolton since the 1970’s. The property contains 7 acres of wetlands, including half of the pond that is located on the Town of Bolton’s Community Center property. The remainder of the land is wooded, including many stands of healthy hemlocks. The land includes a 1000-foot summit that offers views of Lake George including Dome Island as well as Black Mountain, Shelving Rock, and the Sagamore. The name comes from the historical use of the property, as the Bradley family who ran a horse-riding business in town, brought their horses up the summit to allow visitors to enjoy the views.

The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) has been awarded two grants, totaling $78,220, from the 2019 Conservation Partnership Program, administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Land Trust Alliance.
The Sembrich Summer Film Series will continue on Monday, August 13th, at 7:30 pm with a screening of George Takei’s Allegiance, The Broadway Musical on the big screen at the Bolton Town Hall. Admission is free.
The opera-themed film In the Mouth of the Wolf is set to be shown in Bolton Landing on Monday, June 25th, at 7:30 pm. This opening selection of the Sembrich Summer Film Series will be presented at Bolton Free Library, 4922 Lake Shore Drive, and is open free and open to the public.
The FUND for Lake George has presented a Water Quality and Clarity Protection Grant of $50,000 to the Town of Bolton. This funding is expected to be applied toward upgrading the Bolton Wastewater Treatment Plant, specifically for the installation of a Woodchip Bioreactor that will reduce the levels of nitrates entering Lake George.
In recognition of their successful visitor center and museum addition collaboration, The Town of Bolton, the Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce, and the Bolton Historical Museum have been awarded the 2017 Lakes to Locks Passage Annual Partnership Award.
The Sembrich summer film series will begin on Monday, June 26th at 7:30 pm at the Bolton Free Library with the North Country premiere of Afterimage, the final film by Polish director Andrzej Wajda, who passed away in 2016 at age 90. The screening is free and open to the public.
Lake shore towns could reduce their salt usage by half simply by applying a liquid solution to roads before a storm arrives, highway superintendents, contractors and town officials were told at a workshop in Lake George in December.
