CycleADK Weekender at Paul Smith’s College Returns
Registration is now open for 2019 Weekender at Paul Smith’s College, a family-friendly bicycling event scheduled for June 28-June 30.
Introduced by Cycle Adirondacks in 2018, the event was designed with all the amenities and features of CycleADK’s flagship Ultimate Cycling Vacation, but with half the time commitment and a singular event base at the lakeside campus of Paul Smith’s College. » Continue Reading.
Cycle Adirondacks To Hit Ti, Wilmington, Westport, Vermont
Cycle Adirondacks is set to feature Ticonderoga, Wilmington and Westport as overnight communities for the August 17-23, 2019 Ultimate Cycling Vacation, the fifth anniversary of the week-long road cycling tour.
Ticonderoga was featured as an overnight community during the 2016 tour, but next summer will be the first time the tour has stayed in Wilmington or Westport. Each community will host the event for two consecutive evenings beginning with Ticonderoga Aug. 17-19 and followed by Wilmington Aug. 19-21 and Westport Aug. 21-23. » Continue Reading.

Cycle Adirondacks, in partnership with Adirondack Foundation and the Cloudsplitter Foundation, have donated over $5,000 to community generated projects in Speculator, Inlet and North Creek as part of its CycleADK Gives program.

Cycle Adirondacks Adds Weekender at Paul Smith’s
Cycle Adirondacks has added to its 2018 tour schedule The Weekender at The Paul Smith’s College, a new family-friendly bicycling event scheduled for June 29-July 1.
The new event will be hosted at the lakeside campus of Paul Smith’s College and complements Cycle Adirondacks nearly sold out annual weeklong tour set for August 18-24. Cycle Adirondacks Itinerary, Changes for 2017
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has announced a new model for Cycle Adirondacks 2017.
Now in its third year, the August 19th to 25th fully supported road bicycling tour will feature three primary hub communities – Schroon Lake, Keene Valley and Saranac Lake – with two consecutive nights at each. Organizers say the result will be more ride distances and options to pedal as few as three days or as many as six during the week long event.
On days the tour doesn’t move between hub communities, guests will have the ability to choose short or long ride distances. They may also choose to take a day off their bike in favor of other activities, such as hiking, canoeing, browsing shops or restaurants. The Wild Center will be a featured activity on Aug. 24 when the tour stops in nearby Saranac Lake for the third straight year. » Continue Reading.
Second Cycle Adirondacks Bike Tour Results Reported
Cycle Adirondacks, a week-long bicycle touring event created by Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), concluded its second-year last month. The event ridership doubled from the first year to more than 300 with 2016 participants traveling from 35 states and provinces to experience the Adirondacks with WCS.
The 2016 route started and finished in Hadley-Lake Luzerne, and included overnight stops in Ticonderoga, Keeseville, Saranac Lake, Indian Lake and Northville. In total, cyclists pedaled through six different counties and 45 communities across a 404-mile journey from August 21-27. » Continue Reading.
Cycle Adirondacks Community Concert Series Announced
Wildlife Conservation Society has announced its Cycle Adirondacks 2016 Community Concert Series lineup. The August 20-27 road cycling tour will feature seven consecutive evenings of free entertainment in six different Adirondack communities.
Each venue is open to the public and offers a beer garden featuring Good Nature Farm Brewery and local food concessions. Entertainment begins at 7 pm nightly. » Continue Reading.

The theme for this summers Saranac Lake Community Rides in Downtown Saranac Lake is bring your bike, bring your helmet and bring a friend.
The free bi-weekly event spearheaded in 2015 by the North Country Healthy Heart Network and Cycle Adirondacks features family friendly group bicycle rides beginning at 6 pm from the Berkeley Green. Rides will be hosted on July 20, August 10 and 24, and September 7 and 21. » Continue Reading.
Route Announced For 2016 Cycle Adirondacks Bike Tour
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has announced the route for Cycle Adirondacks — a week-long road bike tour through the Adirondack Park scheduled to take place August 20–27, 2016. This will be the tour’s second year; registration is now open.
The 2016 route starts and ends in Hadley-Lake Luzerne, NY, and includes overnight stops in Ticonderoga, Keeseville, Saranac Lake, Indian Lake and Northville. There will be a “layover day” in Saranac Lake where riders can pedal an optional route that tours Lake Placid or take a day off the bike to enjoy the amenities available in the Olympic Region. » Continue Reading.
Community Concerts Planned For Cycle Adirondacks
The Wildlife Conservation Society has announced the lineup of a free community concert series happening from August 22-29, as part of Cycle Adirondacks – the first fully supported road-cycling tour of the Adirondack Park and surrounding region. The concerts are open to the public.
The eight-night series will feature live music and other entertainment in the tour’s overnight towns. From bluegrass to bike stunts, the community concert series features homegrown musical acts as well as national artists. Each venue will also offer a beer and wine garden with local craft beverages, food concessions and a local vendor village. » Continue Reading.
Long Lake’s Adopt-A-Bear Program
The iconic Long Lake Mama Bear, as originally drawn by graphic designer, artist, and photographer Peter Lemon, is the focus of a new contest to celebrate the arrival of the Cycle Adirondacks tour to Long Lake on August 28th.

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has announced Cycle Adirondacks, a week-long, road bike tour through the Adirondack Park featuring daily routes that will allow riders to be immersed in the forests, lakes, streams and abundant wildlife habitat of the famed Adirondack region.

The Adirondack Almanack is a public forum dedicated to promoting and discussing current events, history, arts, nature and outdoor recreation and other topics of interest to the Adirondacks and its communities
We publish commentary and opinion pieces from voluntary contributors, as well as news updates and event notices from area organizations. Contributors include veteran local writers, historians, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the Adirondack region.
