Those in the Raquette Lake/Long Lake area are gearing up for a weekend jam-packed with an array of festivities for the annual Durant Days celebration slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 5, 6 and 7. The weekend serves as a celebration of the birth of Great Camps Architecture and William West Durant, the creator of this amazing style of architecture. History buffs of all ages are invited to travel back in time to the days when waterways were the highways and travel was by boat. Durant Days features boat tours of Raquette Lake aboard the W.W. Durant, tours of Great Camp Sagamore, a boat parade, live music, a fireworks display, and much more.

Raquette Lake Durant Days Schedule Announced
A three-day event celebrating Great Camp architecture will provide a variety of opportunities to get a behind-the-scenes tours of great camps in and around Raquette Lake. A boat cruise aboard the W.W. Durant and community events are scheduled to take place Friday through Sunday, August 4-6, 2017.

Raquette Lake Durant Days This Weekend
Raquette Lake will be celebrating the Birth of Great Camps as inspired by William West Durant, Friday through Sunday, August 5th – 7th 2016.
On Friday, August 5th there will be a special cruise with Raquette Lake Navigation on the W.W. Durant. Stops along the way include Camp Pine Knot, the first Great Camp and home to Collis P. Huntington of Southern Pacific Railroad Fame. Camp Pine Knot is not usually open to the public, so this is unique opportunity to see it up close. There will also be a visit to St. Williams on Long Point, a church built by W.W. Durant in 1890. St. Williams is on the National Register of Historic Sites.
