Essex County Arts Council announces 2022 Sunburst Award recipients

essex county arts councilThe Essex County Arts Council is pleased to announce that eight North Country artists have received ECAC’s newly rebranded Sunburst Awards for individual artists.  The Sunburst micro-grants will help these artists to realize a project that will advance their career.  Artists were chosen by an independent panel of art enthusiasts, and will each receive a grant of $500 in support of their projects.

Rebecca Kelly, ECAC President, commented: “We are proud to support our community artists and pleased to invest in their creative journeys.”

This year’s Sunburst Award recipients applied for funding to support a wide range of artistic genres, including writing, photography, musical workshops and performances, comic book design, watercolors, print-making and illustration. In the coming year, you will see/hear performances and exhibits throughout Essex County that feature our Sunburst Awards recipients.

Essex County Arts Council seeks part time administrator

essex county arts councilThe Essex County Arts Council is looking to hire a part-time arts administrator. The position is an average of 30 hours a month, with more/less hours depending on the time of year. Duties include grant administration, marketing and communications support, and event support.

Application receipt deadline is Monday, November 16, 2020. Application should be made to Essex County Arts Council, c/o Tony Kostecki, President and may be emailed to tonyk@essexcountyarts.org or mailed to Essex County Arts Council, PO Box 187, Westport, NY 12993. Include a cover letter, brief resume, and three references with contact information.

Essex Country Art Council Announces CAP Grant Recipients

Essex County Art Council congratulates the 39 Arts and Cultural organizations that have been awarded 2020 Cultural Assistance Program (CAP) grants through NYS Council on the Arts.

“All of us at Essex County Arts Council are happy to be able to support artists and arts organizations during this time of so much uncertainty. We are committed to doing all we can to ensure the vitality of the arts and culture in our Essex County communities. We know how important this sector will be to our collective well-being once we are again able to gather and enjoy the output of the many talented artists in our area.” Tony Kostecki, the president of the Essex County Art Council says in a recent newsletter.

Essex County Arts Council Awards 2016 Grants

Upper Jay Art CenterThe Essex County Arts Council has announced its 2016 Cultural Assistance Program grant awards. The Essex County Board of Supervisors and the Arts Council’s Board of Directors provided a total of $11,000 to be distributed among twenty-three winning organizations.

Project support is provided to Adirondack Art Association in Essex for their Summer Music Series; East Branch Friends of the Arts for Harpist Sunita Staneslow; Elizabethtown Social Center for their Summer Performing Arts Series; Essex Community Concerts for the concert series; Fort Ticonderoga Association for Scots Day; Lake Placid Sinfonietta for free community concerts; Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society for the Lake Placid Timeline Exhibit; North Star Underground Railroad Museum for Solomon Northup Day Commemoration; Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce for annual square dances; Schroon Lake Public Library for “Learn to Play the Ukulele;” Ticonderoga Area Farmer’s Market for “Art & Artichokes; Comquats & Community;” Ticonderoga Arts for Summer Arts Workshop Series; Ticonderoga Festival Guild for “Summer in the Park” concerts; Willsboro Arts for its second summer sculpture show; and the Whallonsburg Civic Association / Grange Hall for CALAN in concert. » Continue Reading.
