Fall Farmers’ Markets in the Adirondacks

The next few weeks are bringing local Adirondack farmers’ markets to a close for the season. There is still plenty of fresh produce to gather though most of the weekly outdoor area farmers’ markets are starting to move back to the farm.

The Saranac Lake (10/14), Ticonderoga (10/14), Lake Placid (10/18),and Lowville (10/28) farmers’ markets are winding down their outdoor market schedule. Don’t fret. Most farmers are still producing their amazing meats, cheese, produce, and local products.

Winter farmers’ markets are available on the outskirts of the Adirondack Park, but two places that continue to provide that intimate connection with our farmers is the Sugarhouse Creamery’s The Snowy Grocery and the Saranac Lake Famers’ Market. » Continue Reading.

Riverfront Arts Festival At Warrensburgh Farmers’ Market Friday

An Adirondack Riverfront Arts Festival will be held on Friday, July 28 from 3 to 6 pm at the Warrensburgh Farmer’s market. There will be demonstrations of wood carving, paper bead making, jewelry design, knitting, painting, and more.

Attendees will have the chance to learn the processes used to make healing soaps and lotions and the benefits of essential oils from Darlene Gregson; visit with local author Pat Leonard who will be personalizing her books; observe the technique of Kaena Peterson as she creates watercolors inspired by her surroundings; watch the art of rustic furniture making by Barry Gregson; design their own earrings with Donna Bonura; watch as pieces of paper are spun into beads by Wini Martin; and find information about gardening in the North Country at the Master Gardener Station. Samples of craft beverages, cheeses, honey, maple products, organic chicken, fruits and veggies, breads and desserts and healthy treats for four legged friends will be offered. We’re living in an age of global markets, with almost all of us buying our food from chain supermarkets, convenient stores, and fast food outlets; rarely thinking about where our food comes from or how it was grown or processed.

Farmers’ Market Returns To Saranac Lake

The Saranac Lake Farmers’ Market has opened its 2017 season. The market, which takes place at Riverside Park in downtown Saranac Lake, operates on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. The market is a rain or shine event and continues through mid-October.

Farmers and producers will bring vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, cheeses, arts, wines, spirits, baked goods and more.

The market will also be expanding the number of local musicians who will be playing at the market thanks to a donation from the Adirondack Green Circle. » Continue Reading.

Warrensburgh Farmers Market Kicks Off May 25th

The Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers Market will be held on Friday afternoons, from Memorial Day to Columbus Day Weekends.
