Author Glenn Pearsall to lead April 18 discussion at Union College

Union College Academy for Lifelong Learning (UCALL) and the Kelly Adirondack Center are pleased to present a presentation featuring author Glenn Pearsall who will lead a discussion on his book, When Men and Mountains Meet: Stories of Hope and Despair in the Adirondack Wilderness after the American Revolution. The event will take place at the Old Chapel on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 5:30 p.m., with refreshments available beginning at 5 p.m. This presentation is free and open to the public.

‘Black Woods’ Author Amy Godine to speak at April 25 event

Godine will speak about her book, The Black Woods: Pursuing Racial Justice on the Adirondack Frontier. Dalton-Loines Family Papers exhibit reception set for Oct. 25

The Dalton-Loines Family Papers
Between 2019 and 2022 Sylvia Rogal Pope donated her collection of documents, photographs, and ephemera from the Dalton-Loines family to the Adirondack Research Library. In 2022, Phyllis Modley donated a guestbook filled with additional memories. The Dalton-Loines Family Papers consists mainly of materials that focus on their lake houses in the Northwest Bay of Lake George. » Continue Reading.

Inside The Green Lobby with Bernard Melewski and Brad Edmondson set for Oct. 18

The Kelly Adirondack Center will host an upcoming program called “Inside The Green Lobby with Bernard Melewski and Brad Edmondson” on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at Karp 105, Union College Campus. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be available beginning at 5 p.m. Retired lobbyist Bernard Melewski, author of Inside The Green Lobby, and journalist Brad Edmondson, author of A Wild Idea, will team up to tell a story about how politics made strange bedfellows in the Adirondack Park.

Between 1990 and 1994, a state commission’s spectacular failure forced a new coalition of activists, brokers, and elected officials to come together.  They would protect a million acres of the Park over the next decade.

Searching for Timbuctoo discussion with filmmaker Paul Miller on May 10

The Kelly Adirondack Center at Union College is pleased to present a discussion with Paul Miller, Searching for Timbuctoo filmmaker, on May 10 at 7 p.m. at the Reamer Auditorium in the Reamer Campus Center at Union College. The event is free and open to the public.

Miller is a writer, filmmaker and photographer based in upstate New York. A long-time (20-year) veteran of both broadcast and cable television, Miller has worked for national networks and shows, such as The History Channel, National Geographic Channel, PBS, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
