Lake Placid Center for the Arts Hosts Winter Prom Fundraising Event Dec. 7

Lake Placid, NY –  Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) is excited to announce the first ever Winter Prom Fundraiser, to be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 7 in the LPCA’s Annex Building (“the Cafetorium.”) All are invited to take a trip down memory lane for this fun and kitschy holiday party. While LPCA will miss hosting Joy to the Children this year, the staff and board wanted to bring people together to celebrate winter in a new fun way, while still generating much needed funds for year-round initiatives from the pottery program to summer camps. » Continue Reading.

Lake Placid Center for the Arts grants $650k to arts organizations across NYS

Initiative Supported by the New York State Council on the Arts

Lake Placid, NY –  The Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) is thrilled to announce the list of awardees from its inaugural Audience Building Project, a regrant program supported by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) this year.

The statewide program is focused on audience-building to support organizations as they recover from the COVID-19 and racial justice pandemics. LPCA is distributing a pool of $650,000 to presenters of all sizes with $5,000-$10,000 grants towards projects that are intended to grow and diversify audiences. By mitigating some of the financial risk involved in programming performing arts experiences that will appeal to a new or broader audience, the Audience Building Project aims to support arts organizations’ ability to develop deep, sustainable relationships within their communities.

LPCA Open Juried Art Show: Call for Artists 

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) is encouraging artists of all genres and media to submit work for the annual LPCA Open Juried Art Show. This show is designed to celebrate the talents of regional artists and highlight the creative visions of residents in and around New York’s North Country.

This opportunity is open to all artists/media including: photography, sculpture, painting, drawing, fiber, ceramics, woodcrafts, jewelry, prints and constructions. This year the Gallery @ LPCA is accepting digital submissions only. Work should be submitted online now through Sunday, Sept. 13, accompanied by a non-refundable entry fee of $15 per piece. No more than four entries per artist. Jurors will determine exhibited and non-exhibited works and awards. A list of exhibited works will be posted at LakePlacidArts.org on Wednesday, September 16. The show will hang in the Gallery @ LPCA from Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, November 14. 

The LPCA invites the public to attend a special, socially-distanced reception for the exhibit on Thursday, October 1 from 4-7 pm and to explore a new, online component that will go live during the third week of the exhibit. Details at lakeplacidarts.org

Contributors include veteran local writers, historians, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the Adirondack region.
