Morgan Duke Conservation Society receives grant to continue environmental protection efforts

Park and Trail Partnership Program grants awarded

Walden, NY – Morgan Duke Conservation Society was awarded a $5,789 matching grant from the Environmental Protection Fund’s Park and Trail Partnership Grants program to get resources for volunteers so they can continue protect the environment at the Hudson River Special Management Area in Lake George Wild Forest in Lake Luzerne New York. The grant will help provide volunteers with safety orange uniform shirts, custom made patches for the shirts that will be designed and made from local business Adirondack Patch Co, community event pop up safety signs and a custom logo EZ-up tent for the community clean up events.

Litter Clean-Up Day in Lake Luzerne

On July 15,  the Morgan Duke Conservation Society, along with seven new volunteers came together and had a litter clean-up day at the Hudson River Special Management Area, known as the Buttermilk & Bear Slides in Lake Luzerne.

The new volunteers came from Hudson Falls, Glens Falls, Hadley, and Lake Luzerne and other places.  They helped picked up garbage throughout the area, along the road, and around campsites near the Hudson River. Several of the volunteers removed some of the graffiti that was on the rocks.
