Northern Current to feature a diverse set of musical acts

northern current logo

SARANAC LAKE – Despite COVID making planning difficult, this year’s installment of Northern Current will feature a lineup that’s diverse and danceable – a perfect way for locals to wrap up a summer in which they are finally able to get out and enjoy the world again.

The daylong community music festival on Sunday, Sept. 5, will be headlined by the Mallett Brothers Band, with support from Underground System, Paris Monster, Folkfaces and Giovanina Bucci & Co.

Held at Riverside Park in Saranac Lake, Northern Current is a free, daylong music festival that succeeded Hobofest when its organizers retired. The first Northern Current was in 2019, and after being forced to take a year off from COVID, the festival’s all-volunteer organizing crew is jazzed to create a day of dancing for the Saranac Lake community.

Northern Current music festival to return in September

northern current logoNorthern Current is excited to announce that we will be back in 2021!

This year’s event will be a pared-down version of what we typically shoot for. It wasn’t until recently that it was clear we could have the festival, so we have a shorter period of time to throw it together.

We won’t have a play area or non-food vendors, and will have a smaller number of bands – around five. But the Northern Current team is super excited to enjoy some live music and to get together with our community to dance it all out!

See you at Riverside Park in Saranac Lake on Sunday, September 5! Stay tuned for our lineup, which should be coming out sometime in the next few weeks.
