North Country Arts Center Opening ‘ARTful Colors’ Show

GalleryThe North Country Arts Center will open its fall exhibit, “ARTful Colors,” with a reception tomorrow, Friday, October 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.

North Country Arts Center opened the Art in Chestertown Gallery in July 2010 for what was meant to be only a six-week exhibit. Since then the gallery has shown works by more than one hundred local and regional artists.

North Country Arts Center is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to encouraging and assisting emerging artists and artisans in the southeastern Adirondack region. » Continue Reading.

With Fall Foliage Reaching Peak, It’s Artist Studio Tour Time

T.Fortune.2010SH2This weekend marks the 7th Annual Artist at Work Studio Tour (Sept 27-28-29) in the northern Adirondack region. Nearly 50 artists in the communities of Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Wilmington, Jay, Au Sable Forks, Bloomingdale, Onchiota, Rainbow Lake, Paul Smiths, Gabriels and Lake Clear are participating.

Some artists have taken part every year; there are 12 “new” artists; and 2 other artists are in new locations. There are painters, photographers, potters, mixed media artists, fabric, jewelry, glass, wood and metalworkers, printmakers, and more. » Continue Reading.

Shirt Factory Gallery Hosts Guild of Adirondack Artists

Francis_D_ Now BoardingThe Shirt Factory Gallery in Glens Falls is hosting  a month-long exhibit by the members of the Guild of Adirondack Artists.  Formed in 1973, the Guild of Adirondack Artists intended to bring together working artists from Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties to facilitate a sense of collegiality and promote a high standard of artistic achievement through exhibits and educational experiences.

All of the group’s members are professional artists and/or teaching artists. They often exhibit as a group and individual members exhibit both regionally and nationally. Paintings, drawings and sculptures in a variety of mediums and styles will be represented in this show. » Continue Reading.
