Warren, Wash Co Suffragists Exhibit Opening
Artist Anne Diggory Highlighting Warren Co Historical Event
The guest speaker at the Warren County Historical Society’s Annual Meeting will be Saratoga Springs artist Anne Diggory, who will give a new presentation, “Painting Warren County,” in which she will discuss the role of historic regional landscape artists in her own work.
Chartered in 1997, the Society offers a museum and exhibits, a resource library, collections and archives, historical programs, research and genealogy, publications, a quarterly newsletter, student internships, community history, and a book shop at its headquarters on 50 Gurney Lane in Queensbury.
Warren County Historical Society Open House Nov 7th
The Warren County Historical Society is set to hold its annual Open House on Saturday, November 9th from 11 am to 2 pm at its headquarters and museum on 50 Gurney Lane, in Queensbury, NY.
The Society’s new permanent exhibition, “Warren County 360: Celebrating Place and People,” will be featured, along with a display of Warren County postmarks and post office history, as well as a “Hands-On-History” station. The Warren County Historical Society is officially opening its new museum space with the exhibit “Warren County 360: Celebrating Place and People,” at its headquarters located at 50 Gurney Lane, Queensbury.

The Warren County Historical Society (WCHS) offers historical programs, a Resource Center, a Book and Gift Shop, historical and genealogical research, archives and collections, the quarterly newsletter Pastimes, museum displays, and historic preservation advocacy.

New Book On Lake George Speedboat “El Lagarto”
A new book by Jon Bowers, Legend of Lake George “El Lagarto” and the Men That Made Her Great, is set to be published in the next few weeks, and is now available for pre-order.
Bowers says the book “sets record straight” on the story of the famous wooden Lake George speedboat owned by George Reis. Bower’s grandfather, Anderson “Dick” Bowers, was the mechanic who worked with and for Reis over the lifetime of El Lagarto. » Continue Reading.
Warren Co Historical Gala Makes Hawaiian Connections
The Warren County Historical Society is set to hold its Annual Gala on Thursday, October 25th from 6 to 8 pm at The Culinary Arts Center of SUNY Adirondack, 14 Hudson Avenue, Glens Falls.
This year’s theme is “A Hawaiian Gala.” The Gala will honor Glens Falls’ native son Charles Reed Bishop, born in 1822 at the tollbooth on the bridge over the Hudson River. As a young man, Reed set sail with his friend William Little Lee of Sandy Hill (now Hudson Falls) to the Pacific Ocean, landing in the Hawaiian Islands (then the Sandwich Islands). Bishop married into the Kamehamea royal family and became a founder of modern-day Hawaii, founding Hawaii’s first bank, the Agricultural Society, and schools. Lee served as Hawaii’s Chief Justice and Chancellor.

New Logging Exhibit at Warren County Historical
The Warren County Historical Society is opening a new exhibit, Logging at the Bend of the River, curated by Faith Bouchard. A debut reception will be held on Thursday, August 2 from 4 to 7 pm at the Society’s headquarters, 50 Gurney Lane, in Queensbury.
The exhibit showcases the important history of logging and papermaking in Warren County and the southern Adirondacks and features the role of some the region’s oldest companies, Finch in Glens Falls and International Paper in Ticonderoga (and formerly South Glens Falls).
Queensbury Women’s History Event March 21st
A local Women’s History event is set for Wednesday, March 21st at 7 pm, at the Warren County Historical Society, 50 Gurney Lane, in Queensbury.
This Women’s History Month event, which is free and open to the public, features talks by three local women on three notable women in local history Harriet Leonard Colburn, Jeanne Robert Foster, and Frances Garnar Kinnear. Glens Falls Feeder Canal Program Nov 15th
The Warren County Historical Society will host a program on the Glens Falls Feeder Canal on Wednesday, November 15 at 7 pm, at 50 Gurney Lane in Queensbury, NY.
This program will focus on the past, present and future of the Feeder Canal that was once the economic engine of the area.
